The Diploma in Food & Beverage Service programme offered at the Institute of Hotel Management Guwahati is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled operational staff in the hospitality and service sectors.
Hospitality organizations such as hotels, restaurants, fast food outlets, resorts, railways, airlines, cruise liners, and other allied industries require trained personnel to efficiently manage their day-to-day service operations.
The programme focuses on providing practical, job-oriented training and developing essential service skills required in the food and beverage sector. Students receive hands-on training in institute restaurants and service laboratories under the supervision of experienced faculty members.
The programme is open to candidates who have successfully completed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects.
The course duration is 36 weeks of academic training, followed by 24 weeks of Industrial Training in hotels or hospitality establishments. The programme follows an annual examination system, including term-end examinations and periodic internal assessments comprising both theory and practical components.
The course equips students with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in food and beverage service operations, enabling them to perform effectively in entry-level service positions in the hospitality and allied industries.
