At Institute of Hotel Management Guwahati, Industrial Training (IT) forms an important part of the academic curriculum and provides students with practical industry exposure in reputed hospitality establishments across India. B.Sc. (Hospitality & Hotel Administration) students are generally sent for Industrial Training during Semester III or IV in their second year, while Diploma and Craft Course (CCCFPP) students undergo four months of Industrial Training after completing one year (two semesters) of academic studies at the institute. M.Sc. (Hospitality Administration) students are required to undertake a two-month Field Visit programme during their final semester as part of their curriculum.
The institute facilitates Industrial Training opportunities primarily in leading five-star hotels and hospitality organisations across the country, enabling students to gain hands-on experience, professional skills, operational knowledge, and industry confidence. Students are also permitted to arrange their own Industrial Training opportunities through proper institutional protocol and approval procedures.
Through structured practical exposure, industry interaction, and professional learning environments, the institute helps students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world hospitality operations, thereby preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality and service industry.
