Course Information

There was a time when cooking was purely an art but now it is described as both an art and a technology. Few subjects are as absorbing and varied. Kitchen work is very dancing. There is always the next meal to prepare and work goes on. I t may also entail working under pressure in hot and noisy kitchens and being on ones feet all the time. However, this is appropriately compensated with high salaries. Food production is essentially a skilled and creative work of practical nature. Good chefs throughout their careers can always command status, respects and a high salary. This is why there are many excellent opportunities in this job. The basis craft course in professional cookery is designed to meet the needs of communes in hotels and restaurant, industrial catering offices and factories etc. This intensive practical oriented course lays emphasis on the preparation of basis sauces, Soups, Stocks and gravies, Meats and poultry preparation ,egg and sandwiches etc, from French classical dishes to out entice Indian Cookery, the course directs the training in very simplified practical way.

Short Course Admission Procedure

  • For all courses other then the three Year Degree in Hospitality & Hotel Administration applications for admission in the prescribed form should be addresses to the Principal.
  • Admission notice inviting applications are published in all leading News paper of Assam and published through the print media and electronic media. The announcement of the course comes out in the month of May/June in every year.
  • Seats are reserved for sponsored candidates as per rule.
  • Some seats are reserved for sponsored candidates of N.E. states other than Assam. If the requisite numbers of students are not available from N.E. state, the remaining seats are offered to the candidates of Assam. Some seats are open for All-India candidates also.
  • The respective state of NEC, Directorate of Tourism invites application in the month of May/June in every year. Application for admission in the prescribed form along with the prospectus may be obtained from the counter on cash payment on all working days as per the announcement of the course.
  • The application form must be filled in by the candidate in his/her own hand writing and must state clearly for which of the courses admission is sought for. Application forms duly completed have to be submitted at the counter of the institute on or before the last date announced for the receipt of application forms. Application received after the expiry date will not be considered and no representation on that account will be entertained. No separate information will be sent for the interview. Candidates have to appear for the interview as per the interview date mentioned in the advertisement.
The application should be accompanied by all necessary certificates as below:
  • True copy of proof of age.
  • True copies of educational qualification.
  • True copies of mark-sheets.
  • True copies of SC/ST certificate from competent authority.
  • Medical certificate in the prescribed form from a Registered Medical Practitioner.
  • True copy of Permanent Residential Certificate. (Wherever applicable)
  • Pass port size photograph to be pasted in the form.
  • True copy of character certificate from the Head of the Institute last attended.
