Capacity Building for Service Providers
Conducted regular Training for the un-organized & semi-organized Service Providers under the Capacity Building Scheme of Govt. of India under Hunar Se Rozgar Programme. IHM Guwahati has already conducted 7 such programmes of three months duration and have trained 400 candidates in this year alone.
This year also we have started the same program and already conducted 29 such programs in different parts of Assam and North-East India.

Achievements and Awards to IHM Guwahati by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India:
| • Best Award for All Round Performance in North East & J&K Category in 2009-2010. • Overall 4th Rank out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-2010. • Overall 5th Rank in Placement Performance Category in 2009-10 out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-10. • Overall 5th Rank in Administrative Performance Category in 2009-10 out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-10. • Overall 6th Rank in Operational performance Category in 2009-10 out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-10. • Overall 7th Rank in Implementation of Central Schemes in 2009-10 out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-10. • Overall 8th Rank in Academic Performance Category in 2009-10 out of 25 Central & State IHMs of the country in 2009-10. • Other than these IHM Guwahati faculty members are significantly placed in overall of teachers by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. |
Activities and Other Achievements:
| • Institute undertaken various consultancy services. Recently we are providing technical services & consultancy to a floating Centrally Air-conditioned Discotheque & Restaurant cum Bar (opening shortly) on river Brahmaputra in Guwahati – first in North East. • Sri Soumitra Sen,Sr. Lecturer & Sri Anirban Baishya, Lecturer has extended technical expertise for two months Training program for the operational staff of Hotel Ambarish, Ganeshguri Guwahati in the month of August & September 2004. • Students, whenever required, go for ODC on Independence Day, Lachit Divas and many other programs. • Attended Workshop by Mr.Soumitra Sen and Mr. Khagen Saikia,faculty on Master Trainer & Recognised(MTs/RUs)during 15-16 Nov’07 at National Institute of Ocenography(NIO),Goa. • Attended Seminar on Exam Rule by Mr.Amit Kr.Ray & Mr. Sakya Sinha,faculty conducted by NCHMCT on 14/2/08 at IHM,Pusa,New Delhi. • Mrs. P.Gogoi Baruah,AO has attended Seminar on providing reservation roaster for disabled persons organised by NCHMCT on 7/03/08 at IHM,Pusa,New Delhi. • Mrs. Priyanka Saikia Borgohain has attended Workshop on Regional Cuisine in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management,Chandigarh organised by NCHMCT from 27th September – 1st October’10. • Recipient of Special Award for Academic Performance in Hospitality Education 2008-2009 in NATIONAL AWARD FOR EXELLENCE by Ministry of Tourism,Govt. of India. • Winner of Best Student Barman of the year 2010. • Runner-up of Student Chef of the year 2010. • Won Best Institutional Prize in World Tourism Day 2010 Car Rally conducted by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. • Conducted a survey on Kaziranga National Park from 26th April to 29th April’10.Same was presented in front of Tourism Secretary on 29th June’10 under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. |
