Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Guwahati was initially known as Food Craft Institute which has been upgraded in the year 1995 as IHM is one of the premier hotel management college in the country. The Institute was initially located at Bhangagarh of Guwahati and shifted to its own and present location at VIP Road, Upper Hengrabari,Borbari,Guwahati 781036 in April, 2006.

The FCI was affiliated with State council for technical education of Govt. of Assam, the Institute subsequently got affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi I the year 1995.The Degree is being offered in (B.Sc) Hospitality and Hotel Administration jointly by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, New Delhi and Indira Gandhi Open University, New Delhi. The Institute is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India and is governed by a society registered under the Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860). The Institute and its curricula have been designed to train promising and talented young boys and girls in hospitality management. . Under the able guidance of a trained and experienced team of faculty, the Institute aims to professionally equip the trainees to take up positions of responsibility in various branches of the hospitality industry.
